Classic lines...  notice the torpedo tube in the bow.  What is amazing is that all torpedo tubes were apparently removed after the Spanish American War, around 1900, due to their proven impracticality.  However, they were designed into Battleship Texas more than 10 years later!  Look closely at the midships shots.  There are hatches welded shut that served to load coal and dump ash.  Interior shots on other pages will show interesting details.

Superstructure shots show the open bridge and pilot house.  Between the bridge and forward turret lies the armored conn.  It was impossible to get any photos through the extremely narrow slit.  Operating in it would make the armored conn on Texas feel like sitting on your backyard deck.  The two 8" turrets are reproductions.  The originals were removed and replaced with 5" mounts prior to WWI when the ship was reconfigured for training purposes.
